i was wondering if any one has kept at least some of the books from the borg.
i have kept a few, mainly so i can have a good laugh now and then, and highlighting all the double talk.. what did you do with all your jw publications??
did you throw them away?.
I've held on to the Insight books, a couple of WT Bibles and a reasoning book. There may be one or two others if I searched. Also have the CD ROMs somewhere.
I don't think you have to burn them myself, they can still be used as reference material. The actual Insight books are actually quite interesting in places.
lately, i've found listening to my "simpsons" cds while i'm driving home from work to be very helpful in de-stressing.
they always make me laugh, and it's far less depressing than listening to the news on the radio while i'm driving.. i've also been known to have bubble baths by candle light with a good relaxing cd playing (i have one that's of thunderstorms which is one of my favorites).
glass of wine optional.
1. Sitting in the garden with my cats, looking at the flowers.
2. Playing video games (currently Klonoa on the GBA).
3. Listening to music.
4. Sleeping
with working on client's projects and playing on this board i finally squished in some time in to finish my site.
it isn't anything fancy with animations and shockwave magic shooting all over the place like i have done in the past.
it is simple, clean, and straight forward boring html.. the work is just a small portion of what i have done over the last year or so.

as former jw i did witness favouritism towards elders and circuit overseers and also noticed how low status j-dubs actually lined up to speak to the circuit/overseers wife.even outside association seemed to be confined to say elders associating with elders etc.
i remember when even a sister gave a glass of water to a coughing circuit.overseer but i noticed she never did this to others in the hall.. then for instance how many at the hall formed groupies after meetings not making any effort to gell with others,i felt so sorry for those just sitting on there own.. so why do they act like this, it beats me because a lot of literature and talks focused on not being impartial to others,were they really taking it in or was it a question of congregation status or favouritism towards others.. also outside the meetings association didnt seem to exist and only confined to a certain favoured individuals.

This guy will be the first one to point out faults within other people. There is a glaring reason for his hypocrisy, as he sits at home and ties his PC up 24/7 streaming MP3s off the net, this doesn't seem to hit him though? Weird isn't it. Double standards. He will openly admit that he is not willing to pay for most things in life and states the main reason being that the commercial world is a rip off. Which is probably true, but when I served as a JW I would never have dreamed of downloading and distributing other peoples music, due to the Watchtower stating that basically it is theft and sinful.
Nowadays I'm not so hard in this area and have quite a few copied albums, although when I can afford, I will go out and buy new music.
Hypocrisy is one of the easiest faults to find in another person, and within ourselves quite often. The reason I get upset, is when people are really hard on other people and not so hard on themselves. Very annoying!
looking at this board and the various kinds of thoughts, beliefs, maturity levels, insecurities, as well as an individuals time span on this board one main dilemma seems to keep popping up, that dilemma is freedom of expression verses the possible alienation of a new poster fresh out of the jw mindset.. the board wars (or being able to express a controversial and contrary opinion) and the use of colorful language (my personal favorite) seem to be jeopardized because of the concern of possibly loosing or offending an important new poster who we all have to agree means something to us all (we were all there once in our lives).
the dilemma seems to ride on personal freedoms of old and established poster who are not easily offended by controversial things and the sensitivity of those who are experiencing the real world for possibly the first time in their lives and have just made a dramatic life change.. i personally am very concerned about a new poster who is confused and looking for some answers, i think most of us are.
i completely understand simon's wishes to try and not offend them.

Check my score at the side ... if I was cut out of the big boys talk due to my score, I'd find it insulting.
Plus you could easily pump your score up by posting against anything and everything and then get let into the big boys club.
Maybe a written examination would be more fitting (I jest of course).
is there anyone out there who still listens to good old fashion punk rock.
sure i have long conseeded that the punk/new wave music movment has been long long long dead but who out thier still will digs up an old lp or tape or buy a re-issue just to listen to some good ol fashion in your face give em the finger punk tunes....... .

Dead Kennedys are the only punk band I now listen to. Fresh Fruit is a work of genius !
The Stranglers are pretty light weight, but they border on punk, so I'd have to admit to the odd listen there as well ....
Well, personally, I was out of work at the time and spent time *out in the field* ..... this helped my ego and gave me a feeling of self worth. Especially as I felt I was doing Gods work - what better way to spend ones time?
Never looked at others houses as my future though, thats just sick.
I also enjoyed meeting people who had a listening ear. Which was obviously quite rare .... so off your list, probably #1 .

Yes, as long as the opinion is held within the context of the website and not abuse for the sake of abuse, then yes, it should be allowed to stay. If one poster wants to have a go at Bill Bowen, then let him/her. They have a right to that opinion and it is for Bill's squad, to step in and defend him if they want to.
Of course there have to be rules, but not so strict that we are not allowed to view an alternate take on an issue. Personally, I would allow a person to air their racist/sexist/whatever views and then fight back with common sense, I would hope in this way, at some stage they would learn a little? If we simply delete posts which are not abusive as such, then it is a control that I think is unfair.
Having said all of that, I wasn't even allowed to see bleeps post, so I have no idea what the overall content was....

Using the right to censor in this way, is out of line.
Bleep has a right to his own opinion, we don't have to share it of course.
